We have tremendous thanks to God for the partnership of Holman United Methodist Church and Angeles Mesa Presbyterian Church in bringing What’s Going On: The Seven Last Words of Jesus to Los Angeles on April 3rd. With leadership, help and support from so many, we encountered the divine in a new way. We were inspired, unsettled, challenged and called last night to take up our crosses and follow Jesus toward healing, wholeness and justice and there is much work to do in this upcoming season of Resurrection.
For our offering at this year’s Seven Last Words worship, we collected money to support the work of two organizations doing transformative work in wholeness & justice with young people and families: The Presbytery of the Pacific Culver City Habitat Build & The Brotherhood Crusade Youth Development Programs. You will recall that two of our poets from last night came from the Brotherhood Crusade.
Your opportunity to spread the word and support this great work isn’t over! With a donation of $15 (plus shipping) you will receive a t-shirt to remind all you meet that love of God, self and others can transform the world. All proceeds beyond production costs will go toward these two organizations. The last day to donate is Monday, April 13!
For updates of music, preaching and poetry from What’s Going On go to REBIRTHlive.net! Audio, images and video from the worship experience will roll out over the next week. For the time being, here is audio from Cat Cain with the Holman UMC House Band singing the prophet Marvin Gaye’s Makes Me Wanna Holler (Inner City Blues):
